How do I sign up for a volunteer opportunity/event?

To sign up, you may visit our volunteer application website to fill out a Community Involvement Interest Form. This takes about 5-10 minutes. After this is done, you may then click Search Opportunities to view the various programs/events you can get involved with and sign up for. Once you have chosen a specific opportunity through the Search, click View Details, then View Schedule Slots under the picture to sign up.

Why do I have to sign up online?

In order to best provide service opportunities and track volunteer service hours for the university as a whole, you must sign up online. Once you sign up to volunteer you will have access to other opportunities and your volunteer record of service hours.

Where is your office located?

Our office is located in the Loma Linda University Councilors Student Pavilion, on the corner of Anderson Street and Mound Street. Inside the building, our office can be found directly across the room from the student cafeteria, through the glass door under the large wall clock. We are at the end of the hall, room 1402.

Where do I park when visiting your office?

When visiting our office, you may park in the Loma Linda Market parking lot on Mound Street, just left of the Councilors Student Pavilion. Please keep in mind that there is a limit of 2-hour parking.

What are your office hours?

Monday - Thursday: 9:00 a.m.—5:00 p.m.
Friday: 9:00 a.m.—2:00 p.m. 
Weekends: Closed

As we are often in the community working, please call before coming to our office if you need to speak with someone specific.

How do I get to Indian Springs High School?

Indian Springs High School is located at 650 N. Del Rosa Drive in San Bernardino. From Loma Linda University, you may take Anderson St./Tippecanoe Avenue toward the mountains until you reach E. 3rd Street. Turn right, and keep driving until you reach Del Rosa Drive. Turn left, and the school will be located on your left.

If I sign up for an opportunity, do I have to volunteer every week?

Depending on what you have signed up for, the requested commitment level will vary. Some opportunities prefer a yearly commitment of weekly volunteering, others allow a one-time commitment. Visit your CAPS online volunteer profile for details regarding your volunteer opprtunity of interest.

If I forget to sign up, can I still attend the volunteer opportunity/event?

We prefer for you to sign up beforehand. This is the only way you are guaranteed volunteering hours and tasks. If you do forget, please call our office to see if we will take additional volunteers at the door.

What happens if cannot make it to the event/opportunity I have signed up for?

Because we rely heavily on our volunteers' participation, please inform us as soon as you know you will not be able to make it. If there are opportunities that request more commitment than you know you can give, we ask that you choose an opportunity more fitting to your schedule.

What days of the week are volunteer opportunities offered?

Volunteer opportunities are offered Tuesday - Saturday each week. Some events are held on Sundays a couple of times a quarter. Check out your volunteer opportunity of interest for specific hours and other details.

Are there any opportunities offered that don't involve working with young kids?

Our La Escuelita Resource Center, My CampusProject Hope, and Discovery programs all deal with older individuals such as teens and adults. Check out your opportunity of interest online for specific details.

How do I check how many volunteer hours I have completed?

Please login to to your volunteer profile. Here you will find the opportunities you have participated in during your time with us. If there is a discrepancy please email us at Please note that it may take us up to two weeks after an opportunity is finished to input all volunteer hours.
