Mentor At-Risk Youth
Special Ops uses sports, crafts and other activities as a way to reach and mentor at-risk youth from San Bernardino schools. The elementary and high school students participating have been identified by school administrators as at-risk for academic failure, behavioral problems and gang involvement. This program provides positive role models for the kids.
Special Ops meets Friday afternoons in various high schools in San Bernardino.
Volunteers are needed to play sports, do crafts and participate in mentoring activities with the at-risk youth. There is an academic year commitment for Special Ops.
Check-out our volunteer story, created by second-year School of Medicine student Logan Villarreal on why he volunteers with Special Ops.
